Fes in 2027

The dates that shape a 2027 trip to Fes: Ramadan and the two Eids, the fixed public holidays, the festival months and the best seasons to walk the medina. Each date says how certain it is, because some of them depend on the moon.

The year in Fes

Expected means forecast from the moon's cycle and confirmed by sighting, usually the evening before. Not announced means the organisers haven't published dates yet, and we won't guess them.

January

Winter, and three holidays

New Year's Day, the Independence Manifesto on 11 January and the Amazigh New Year on 14 January are fixed public holidays. The medina keeps going, and it's cool and quiet, with the occasional rainy day.

February to early March

Ramadan, expected from around 8 February

Quiet mornings, slow afternoons and late, lively evenings. Eid al-Fitr is expected on 9 or 10 March. It's also the snow window in the Middle Atlas. Ramadan 2027 in Fes has the details.

March to May

Spring, the easiest season

Mild days for long walks, gardens in flower and Easter on 28 March, after Ramadan has ended. The Fes Festival of World Sacred Music has recently been held in May or early June; the 2027 dates are not announced yet. See the best time to visit Fes.

Mid-May

Eid al-Adha, expected 16 or 17 May

A major family feast. Many medina shops and workshops close for several days, and roads are busy as people travel home. We plan countryside days or the Sahara around it.

June

Cherry season in Sefrou

Sefrou, about 30 km south of Fes, holds its UNESCO-listed cherry festival in June. The 2027 dates are not announced yet. The town, its waterfall and the cave houses of Bhalil make a good day in any season.

July and August

Summer heat

Inland Fes is hot. We start medina walks early and use the afternoons for the cooler Middle Atlas. The Throne Day on 30 July is a public holiday, and more national holidays follow in August.

September to November

Autumn, the other easy season

Warm days, cooler nights and a good time for the Sahara. The moussem of Moulay Idris II has recently been held in early October; the 2027 date isn't confirmed. The Green March on 6 November and Independence Day on 18 November are public holidays.

2027 questions

Answered with the dates we can stand behind today.

What is the best time to visit Fes in 2027?
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the most comfortable months for walking the medina. In 2027, spring also clears Ramadan: the fast is expected to end around 9 or 10 March, before Easter on 28 March. Summer is hot inland, and winter is cool with some rain, with snow possible in the Middle Atlas.
When is Ramadan 2027 in Morocco?
Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin in Morocco on or around Monday 8 February, with Eid al-Fitr on or around Tuesday 9 or Wednesday 10 March. Morocco confirms both by sighting the moon, so either date can move by a day.
When is Eid al-Adha 2027 in Morocco?
Eid al-Adha is expected on Sunday 16 or Monday 17 May 2027, again depending on the moon sighting. It is a major family holiday, and many medina shops and workshops close for several days around it.
When is the Fes Festival of World Sacred Music in 2027?
The organisers have not announced the 2027 dates yet. Recent editions have taken place in May or early June. We will update this page when the dates are published on fesfestival.com.
Which public holidays in Morocco have fixed dates in 2027?
Fixed national holidays include New Year's Day (1 January), the Independence Manifesto (11 January), the Amazigh New Year (14 January), the Throne Day (30 July), the Green March (6 November) and Independence Day (18 November). Banks and offices close; the medina mostly carries on.
How far ahead should I plan a 2027 trip to Fes?
For spring and autumn, a few months ahead gives you the widest choice of riads and guides. Shorter notice often works too. Tell us your dates and we tell you honestly what is still possible.
