Fes in summer 2027

Summer in Fes is hot, with highs usually in the mid-30s °C in July and August. It's also long evenings, quiet mornings and cedar forests an hour away. Here's how we plan a June, July or August trip, and which 2027 dates to know.

A cool summer day in Fes

Move with the shade, not against it.

Early morning

The medina before the heat

Start with your guide soon after breakfast. The lanes are shaded and cool, and the workshops are opening.

Midday

Up into the cedars

Ifrane and the Azrou forest are higher up and noticeably cooler. A picnic by a lake beats a hot afternoon in the souks.

Rooftops and food stalls

When the heat breaks, Fes comes outside: dinner on a roof terrace, then the stalls along Talaa Kebira.

Summer questions

The questions people ask us most before they plan a trip.

How hot is Fes in summer?
Hot. Average daytime highs in July and August are usually in the mid-30s °C (mid-90s °F), and some days are hotter. Mornings and evenings are much more comfortable, and the Middle Atlas around Ifrane is cooler because it is higher up.
Is summer a bad time to visit Fes?
Not if you plan around the heat. We put the medina walk in the early morning, keep the middle of the day for the riad or a drive into the mountains, and save the rooftops and the food stalls for the evening.
Which holidays fall in summer 2027?
The Throne Day on 30 July is a fixed public holiday, and several more national holidays follow in August. The Islamic New Year is expected in early June and the Prophet's birthday around mid-August, but both follow the moon and are not confirmed yet.
Are there festivals in Fes in summer 2027?
The Sefrou cherry festival is usually held in June, about 30 km from Fes. Its 2027 dates are not announced yet. The Fes Festival of World Sacred Music has recently been held in May or early June; its 2027 dates are not announced either.
