A luxury Sahara trip from Fes

A luxury Sahara trip from Fes is a private 4x4 with your own driver to the Erg Chebbi dunes, 470 km and 7–8 hours away via Ifrane, Midelt & the Ziz gorges, then one or two nights in a small camp with en-suite tents, proper beds and dinner under the stars. Custom-quoted, never shared.

The desert without roughing it

The standard desert trip is a long day in a shared minibus and a night in a basic tent. This is the other version: your own 4x4 and driver, stops when you want them, and a small camp among the dunes where the tent has a real bed, a bathroom and hot water.

You still ride out on a camel at sunset if you like, eat by the fire and climb a dune before dawn. You just do it without a crowd, and you sleep well afterwards.

Before you ask us

The questions people ask us most before they plan a trip.

Do luxury desert camps near Merzouga have private bathrooms?
The camps we book within a luxury trip have en-suite tents with a shower and toilet, and we confirm that in writing before you travel. Simpler camps share facilities, so it's worth asking.
Is it cold in the desert camp at night?
From about November to February, yes: nights can drop close to freezing. Good camps give you heavy blankets and sometimes heaters. Bring a warm layer for the evening by the fire and the dawn climb.
What happens if there is a sandstorm?
Wind storms happen, most often in spring. Camps are built for them, and your driver watches the forecast. If the weather is bad, we can shift the camp night or switch to a camp closer to the road.
How long is the drive from Fes to the Sahara?
Fes to Merzouga is 470 km, 7–8 hours by road via Ifrane, Midelt & the Ziz gorges. We break it with coffee in Ifrane, lunch in Midelt and viewpoints over the Ziz valley.

Tell us your dates. We'll plan it with you.

  1. Tell us what drew you in. Your dates, who is travelling and what you want to see.
  2. A person reads it. We write a day-by-day plan for your group, private or small-group.
  3. You change anything. Then we confirm the guides, drivers and riads.
