A honeymoon in Fes

A Fes honeymoon works best as three nights in a courtyard suite in the medina, then a private drive to a luxury dune camp at Erg Chebbi, 7–8 hours away. In between: a private hammam, a guided morning in the lanes, sunset over the city and dinner on a rooftop. All private, all custom-quoted.

  • The arc: Fes 3 nights, Sahara 1 to 2
  • Fes to the dunes: 470 km, 7–8 hours
  • Format: Private, just the two of you
  • Add on: Marrakech or Chefchaouen
Dar Batha, Fes

Slow mornings, lit lanes, an empty dune

Fes rewards a slow pace. Breakfast in your courtyard, a few hours in the lanes with a guide who knows the quiet corners, then the afternoon back in the riad with the hammam warming. In the evening the medina lights up below the rooftops and the calls to prayer cross the valley.

Then the road south: the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, the Ziz valley, and the orange dunes of Erg Chebbi. A small camp, a proper bed, a hot shower, and nothing between you and the stars.

The honeymoon arc

Days 1 to 3

Fes: a courtyard suite

Arrive to a porter at the gate and a suite around the courtyard. A private medina walk, a long hammam, and rooftop dinners.

Evening

Sunset from the Merinid Tombs

The ruins on the hill north of the medina are the classic place to watch Fes turn gold, then lavender.

Day 4

South through the cedars

A private 4x4 via Ifrane, Midelt & the Ziz gorges, 7–8 hours in all, with stops when you want them.

Nights 4 to 5

A luxury dune camp

A small camp at Erg Chebbi with en-suite tents, dinner under the stars and sunrise on the dunes.

Optional

Marrakech or the north

Continue across the Atlas to Marrakech, or go north to Chefchaouen before flying home.

Road distances and times are typical ranges for a private car, without stops.

A Fes-based trip planner from Serenity Morocco Tours puts the whole thing together: the stay, the transfers, the guide, the tables and the timing. We tell you why we suggest each place, and if a property isn't right for your dates or your needs we say so and offer another. You get one written proposal and one contact for the whole trip.

Before you ask us

The questions people ask us most before they plan a trip.

Is Fes a good place for a honeymoon?
Yes, for couples who like culture and slow days. Fes has some of Morocco's most beautiful riads, a medina that feels unchanged, and the Sahara within a day's drive. It's less of a party city than Marrakech, which many couples prefer.
Can we drink alcohol on our honeymoon in Fes?
In some places. Several of the palace hotels and larger riads serve wine and cocktails, and a few restaurants do; many smaller riads and family-run places don't. Tell us if it matters and we choose stays and tables accordingly.
What about travelling during Ramadan?
It's possible and can be special: the evenings come alive after sunset. Some restaurants close by day and the rhythm of the city changes. We plan meals and timings around it.
Do we need to dress modestly as a couple in Fes?
In the medina, covering shoulders and knees is respectful and makes the day easier. Inside your riad, at the pool and in the camp, wear what you like. Public displays of affection are best kept low-key in the lanes.

Tell us your dates. We'll plan it with you.

  1. Tell us what drew you in. Your dates, who is travelling and what you want to see.
  2. A person reads it. We write a day-by-day plan for your group, private or small-group.
  3. You change anything. Then we confirm the guides, drivers and riads.
