One night in Fes between flights: a riad bed and the medina by morning
A Fes overnight layover turns a long gap into an evening and a morning in the medina. We drive you from arrivals to the gate nearest your riad, where a porter takes your bags. A sunset viewpoint fits if light allows. Next morning a licensed guide walks you through the old city before the drive back to FEZ.
- Typical gap: 14 to 24 hours
- Airport to medina: 20 to 30 min
- Guided walk: 3 to 4 hours
Evening arrival, afternoon departure
An overnight gap at Fes-Saiss is a gift. Instead of an airport hotel, you can sleep in a riad inside the medina, see the old city from above at dusk, and walk it properly the next morning before the heat and the crowds.

How we run it
We handle the gate, the porter and the riad booking guidance; you only need to bring the right overnight bag.
Private
Private is the natural fit for a layover: the whole day is built around your two flight times, and the guide and driver work to your clock alone. If anything runs late, there is nobody else's schedule to balance.
Small-group
Small-group layover tours only work when several travellers share very similar arrival and departure times, which is uncommon. If you are travelling with friends or family on the same flights, we quote one tour for the whole party.
What we arrange
- Driver waiting in arrivals, working from your real landing time
- A route planned backwards from your departure time, not forwards from landing
- Hand luggage kept in the locked vehicle under the driver's watch while you explore
- A licensed local guide for the city walk (official guides carry a badge)
- Bottled water, and a phone or WhatsApp contact for the driver throughout
- Return to the terminal with the buffer agreed before you land
- Gate and porter arranged with your riad, both on arrival and departure
- Guidance on choosing a riad close to a car-accessible gate
Best season
Year-round. In summer the morning walk is the right call; in winter, riads can be chilly at night, so pick one with heating.

Typical gap, 14 to 24 hours.
Kissaria, FesThe honest details
Leaving the airport means entering Morocco
To go into town you pass passport control and are formally admitted to Morocco, then go through departure formalities again later. Check whether your nationality needs a visa before you book; see our visa and entry guide.
Luggage
If your checked bags are tagged through to your final destination, you only carry hand luggage, which can stay in the locked vehicle. If you are on separate tickets, you may need to collect bags and check in again: tell us, because it changes the timing. We do not plan around an airport left-luggage desk.
The buffer back to the airport
We plan to have you back at the terminal at least 3 hours before an international departure and 2 hours before a domestic one, unless your airline asks for more. Moroccan airports screen passengers and bags at the terminal entrance as well as after check-in, so queues can build at both points.
Cars stop at the gate
The Fes medina is car-free. A porter with a handcart carries your overnight bags from the gate to the riad. A riad near a gate keeps the walk short.
