From Fes-Saiss arrivals to your riad door in the medina
A private Fes airport to medina transfer covers about 15 km from Fes-Saiss to the gate nearest your riad, 20 to 30 minutes by car. Your driver waits in arrivals with a name sign and watches your flight. Cars cannot enter Fes el-Bali, so a porter with a handcart takes your bags from the gate to the door.
- Distance: About 15 km
- Drive time: 20 to 30 min
- Last stretch: On foot
How the arrival runs
Fes-Saiss airport sits on the plain south of the city, so the drive itself is short: out past the ville nouvelle and up to the walls of Fes el-Bali. The part that needs planning is the end of the journey, because no car can reach a riad deep in the medina.

How we run it
We ask for your riad's name before you fly, agree the right gate with the riad, and time the drop so a porter (and often someone from the riad) is ready when you step out. It is the difference between a calm arrival and dragging cases over cobbles at dusk.
Private
Private is the default for airport transfers: the vehicle and driver are yours alone, waiting for your flight, leaving when you are through the doors. Nobody else's delayed suitcase holds you up.
Small-group
Small-group sharing is possible only when another party is landing on the same flight or within a short window and heading the same way. If you ask, we will tell you honestly whether a shared run is realistic for your date; most of the time it is not, and private is simpler.
What we arrange
- Driver waiting in arrivals with a name sign, after passport control and baggage reclaim
- Your flight number watched on the day, so a delay moves the pickup instead of cancelling it
- A vehicle sized to your party and your luggage, agreed before you fly
- Child and infant seats fitted on request (tell us ages and weights)
- Bottled water on board and a phone or WhatsApp contact for the driver
- Fuel, tolls and parking folded into one written quote
- Gate and porter arranged with your riad in advance
Best season
Year-round. Late-evening arrivals are common at FEZ; we simply coordinate with the riad so someone is awake to open the door.

Kissaria, FesThe honest details
Cars cannot enter the Fes medina
Fes el-Bali is car-free. Vehicles stop at the nearest gate or car park to your riad (Bab Boujloud, Bab Guissa, Bab R'cif, Bab Ftouh and others), and the last stretch is on foot. A porter with a handcart carries the bags through the lanes, and many riads send someone to meet you at the gate. Tell us the riad's name and we work out the right gate with them before you land.
Tipping the porter
Porters work for tips. Keep a few small dirham notes or coins ready; your driver can change a larger note if you have only just landed.
Entry formalities come first
Passport control at Moroccan airports can be quick or slow depending on how many flights land together. Check whether your nationality needs a visa before you fly; our visa and entry guide sets out how to check.
