Day by day

This is the whole region as a slow circle: the imperial and Roman heritage of the west, the villages of the foothills and the forests of the Middle Atlas, with two nights away from Fes so nothing is rushed.

Day 1

Meknes and Volubilis

Bab Mansour, Place el-Hedim and the Heri es-Souani granaries in Meknes, then Volubilis in the afternoon light. Night in Moulay Idriss.

Day 2

Bhalil, Sefrou and Immouzer

Back across the Saiss to Bhalil's cave houses and Sefrou, then up to Immouzer Kandar and the lakes. Night in Ifrane.

Day 3

Cedars and home

Morning in the Azrou cedar forest with the macaques, lunch in Azrou, and back to Fes by late afternoon.

Road distances and times are typical ranges for a private car, without stops.

How we run it

It suits travellers who have already done the Fes medina and want to understand the country around it, and those who want a calm, varied few days before or after a desert journey.

Private

Private means your party only: one vehicle, one driver, your start time, your stops. Linger at the macaques, skip the shop, add a viewpoint. It suits families, couples, photographers and anyone with a fixed plan.

Small-group

Small-group means we pair you with other travellers on the same route and date when there is a match, which shares the day with a few like-minded people. Ask for it in your quote request and we will tell you honestly whether a group fits your dates.

What we arrange

  • Private vehicle and driver from your Fes riad or hotel and back
  • Timing built around your pace, the season and site opening hours
  • A licensed local guide where one adds real value (on request)
  • Lunch stop chosen for the route, from a roadside grill to a riad table
  • Bottled water on board and a phone or WhatsApp contact throughout
  • Fuel, tolls and parking folded into one written quote
  • Accommodation suggestions for each night, booked into your quote if you wish
  • Driver's accommodation and meals arranged by us

Best season

March to June and September to November. Summer works with early starts; winter brings snow to the Middle Atlas nights, so we pick heated lodgings.

Built to change

Each day can be lengthened, shortened or swapped. Add the Tazekka day, or end in Chefchaouen instead of Fes; the quote follows the plan you choose.

Questions, answered

What people ask us most before they book this.

Is three days enough for the Fes-Meknes region?
For the main highlights at a calm pace, yes. Add a day for Tazekka National Park and Taza, or for a full day in Meknes.
Can we start or finish in another city?
Yes. The loop can begin from a Fes airport arrival, finish in Chefchaouen or Rabat, or join the start of a desert tour.
Is this tour private or small-group?
Both are possible. Private is your party alone. Small-group pairs you with other travellers on the same date when there is a match; tell us your preference when you ask for a quote.
How much does this tour cost?
Every tour is a custom quote for your party, dates, pace and choice of private or small-group. Send the details through the quote form and we reply with a written plan and one figure.

Tell us your dates. We'll plan it with you.

  1. Tell us what drew you in. Your dates, who is travelling and what you want to see.
  2. A person reads it. We write a day-by-day plan for your group, private or small-group.
  3. You change anything. Then we confirm the guides, drivers and riads.
