From Fes-Saiss arrivals north through the Rif to Chefchaouen

A private Fes airport to Chefchaouen transfer heads north through the olive country around Ouezzane, then climbs a winding road into the Rif. Your driver waits in arrivals and watches your flight, and we stop for mint tea before the mountain section. The blue medina is on foot, so we drop at the closest point and help with the bags.

How the arrival runs

Chefchaouen has no airport, and of the airports that serve it, Fes-Saiss and Tangier are the usual choices. From Fes the road heads north through farmland and the olive country around Ouezzane before climbing into the Rif.

Arrival

To your guesthouse

Drop at the nearest car-accessible point, then a short walk with help for the bags.

Road distances and times are typical ranges for a private car, without stops.

How we run it

The last stretch is winding mountain road, so we build in a stop for tea and stretching. As in Fes, the blue medina's lanes are on foot, so we drop at the closest point to your guesthouse and help with the bags.

Private

Private is the default for airport transfers: the vehicle and driver are yours alone, waiting for your flight, leaving when you are through the doors. Nobody else's delayed suitcase holds you up.

Small-group

Small-group sharing is possible only when another party is landing on the same flight or within a short window and heading the same way. If you ask, we will tell you honestly whether a shared run is realistic for your date; most of the time it is not, and private is simpler.

What we arrange

  • Driver waiting in arrivals with a name sign, after passport control and baggage reclaim
  • Your flight number watched on the day, so a delay moves the pickup instead of cancelling it
  • A vehicle sized to your party and your luggage, agreed before you fly
  • Child and infant seats fitted on request (tell us ages and weights)
  • Bottled water on board and a phone or WhatsApp contact for the driver
  • Fuel, tolls and parking folded into one written quote

Best season

Spring and autumn are ideal. Winter is cool and can be wet in the Rif; late arrivals mean the mountain section is driven in the dark, which is why we often suggest a night in Fes first.

The honest details

Late landings

If you land late in the evening, consider a night in Fes and a morning drive. The Rif road is safer and far more beautiful in daylight.

Chefchaouen is on foot

Much of the old town is stepped lanes. Tell us your guesthouse and we confirm the drop point with them.

Entry formalities come first

Passport control at Moroccan airports can be quick or slow depending on how many flights land together. Check whether your nationality needs a visa before you fly; our visa and entry guide sets out how to check.

Questions, answered

What people ask us most before they book this.

Where will the driver meet me at Fes-Saiss airport?
In the arrivals hall, once you have cleared passport control, collected your bags and passed customs. The driver holds a sign with the name you give us. We send the driver's name and phone or WhatsApp number before you travel, so you can call if you cannot see the sign straight away.
What happens if my flight is delayed or early?
We watch your flight number on the day and plan the pickup around the actual landing time, not the scheduled one. A delay moves your pickup; it does not cancel it. If you miss a connection and land on a different flight altogether, message us the new flight number as soon as you know it.
How much luggage can we bring?
Tell us the number of travellers and bags (including golf bags, surfboards, buggies or wheelchairs) when you ask for a quote. We size the vehicle to the luggage, not just the headcount, so nobody ends up with a suitcase on their lap.
Do you provide child seats?
Yes, on request. Give us each child's age and approximate weight and we fit an appropriate infant seat, child seat or booster before the driver leaves for the airport. Please ask at quote stage rather than on arrival.
Is the transfer private or shared?
Private by default: one party, one vehicle. A shared small-group run only happens when another party is on the same flight or close to it and travelling the same way, and we will only suggest it when it genuinely works.
How much does it cost?
Every transfer is quoted for your party, your luggage, your arrival time and your exact drop-off. Send the details through the quote form and we reply with one written figure that already includes fuel, tolls and the driver's waiting time.
Is Fes or Tangier airport better for Chefchaouen?
Tangier is closer, at about two hours by road. Fes makes sense if your flights land there or you plan to see Fes too. Either way it is a private road transfer; there is no train to Chefchaouen.

Tell us your dates. We'll plan it with you.

  1. Tell us what drew you in. Your dates, who is travelling and what you want to see.
  2. A person reads it. We write a day-by-day plan for your group, private or small-group.
  3. You change anything. Then we confirm the guides, drivers and riads.
