Good to know

Practical notes

  • Two days covers the medina essentials comfortably; add a third for a Volubilis and Meknes day trip.
  • A guide is strongly recommended on day one — Fes el-Bali is a genuine labyrinth with no cars.
  • Stay in a riad inside the medina for atmosphere, or the Ville Nouvelle for modern hotels.

Frequently asked

Is 2 days enough for Fes?

Two days covers the medina's essentials — the medersas, the Kairaouine, the tanneries, the craft quarters and a sunset viewpoint. Add a third day if you want a Volubilis and Meknes day trip or a slower pace.

What should I prioritise with only 2 days in Fes?

Spend day one on Fes el-Bali with a guide (the medersas, the Kairaouine, the tanneries and the souks); use day two for the Andalusian quarter, a pottery or zellige workshop, the gardens and the Merinid Tombs view.
